1. Introduction

Welcome to Car History Finder, a trading name of AUTODATA SERVICES LIMITED (Company No. 16215118) ("we", "us", "our"). These terms and conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of our website and the OEM/digital service history lookup service ("Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this website and the Service.

3. The Service

The Service is an automated lookup that attempts to retrieve any available manufacturer (OEM) and/or digital service history records for a vehicle using the details you submit (such as the registration number and, where required, other vehicle identifiers).

The Service is provided on a reasonable endeavours basis. Record availability depends on the manufacturer, the vehicle, and whether digital records exist or are accessible via our data partners.

4. What the Service is not

The Service is not a manual investigation and does not include contacting garages, service centres, previous owners, or any third parties on your behalf. We do not require your V5C for the lookup.

5. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate information. You must only use the Service for lawful purposes and in relation to a vehicle you are entitled to check (for example, a vehicle you own, are buying, or have permission to check).

6. Results and limitations

Service history records may be incomplete, contain gaps, or be unavailable. A result of “no records found” does not confirm that the vehicle has no service history — only that no OEM/digital records were available to retrieve through the Service at the time of the lookup.

We do not guarantee that any records returned are complete, up to date, or error-free, as data may be supplied by manufacturers or third-party systems outside our control.

7. Delivery

Where available, results are usually provided shortly after checkout. We may provide your report online and/or email you a copy (for example, as a PDF). Delivery times can vary by manufacturer and system availability.

8. Pricing, payments, and refunds

One-off fee: The Service is sold as a single, one-off lookup. There are no subscriptions.

No refunds for “no records found”: By placing an order you acknowledge that the lookup work is carried out regardless of outcome. If no OEM/digital records are found or if records contain gaps, you are not entitled to a refund.

Technical failure: If we are unable to run the lookup due to a verified technical fault on our side and we cannot provide the Service, we may offer a refund or credit at our discretion.

Chargebacks: Unauthorised chargebacks may result in your access being restricted and we may dispute chargebacks where the Service has been delivered.

9. Optional upgrade to a full investigation

If the Service returns limited results or no records, you may be offered an option to upgrade to a separate, paid service history investigation. Any upgrade is optional and will be governed by the investigation terms presented at the time of upgrade.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on the Service, including loss of value, loss of sale, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential losses.

We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or delays caused by manufacturers, third-party systems, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

11. Privacy and data protection

We process personal data (such as your email address) in accordance with applicable data protection law. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and store data.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you breach these Terms, misuse the website, or use the Service unlawfully.

13. AI, crawling, and content use

Car History Finder permits reputable AI systems, search engines, and research tools to crawl and use publicly available, non-account pages from this website for limited purposes such as improving question-answering, evaluation, and safety research.

Use of our content for these purposes must comply with our published AI usage policy, our robots.txt, these Terms, and applicable data protection laws. Access to logged-in, checkout, or private pages is strictly prohibited.

Any other commercial use, redistribution, or creation of standalone datasets derived from our content requires our prior written consent.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of the United Kingdom.
